Training
You had visions of the PERFECT relationship with your dog. The best friend you never had. A dog who is just as content watching movies with you as they are excited to go on an outdoor adventure. You have done everything you know how to get your dog to be that AMAZING companion, but it seems like despite all your best efforts your dog just wont calm down and you can barely trust them if you walk out of the room. You love your dog, but feel completely defeated and are just trying to manage a walk with them without someone getting hurt.
Your not alone and I promise all hope is not lost!! It’s easy to fall into the trap that training alone will solve all your dog’s issues, but that is simply not the case. For training to work, you must first solve any underlying issues your dog may have. The wrong nutrition, not enough exercise, a lack of boundaries are all common areas that get over looked. It’s also important to note that, just like your kids, even a well trained dog will push its boundaries to see what it can get away with. Ever see a kid throw a absolute fit and then get what it what it wanted? That kid knows how to get its way and yeah, your dog has probably figured out the same technique.
My goal is to not only get your dog on the right track, but to teach you how best to help your dog thrive. Each program comes with a Wellness Plan to get your dog started the right way. Even if your dog comes for a board and train program, I make sure you have the skills to make sure it sticks in the long term. Having that perfect companion doesn’t happen over night, but with the right plan and tools, you and your dog can have that balanced relationship you desire.
Why Does a Wellness Plan Matter?
Have you ever been in a bad or “off” mood, because you felt bad, were stressed, or even just a little tired? Of course! We have all been there. This “mood” probably caused you to act out of your normal self, but it doesn’t reflect who you are as a person. What if someone came along during those times and told you that if you just learned to do what you are told and when, that all of your problems would be solved? You would be a bit frustrated and it definitely wouldn’t help your mood or behavior. Guess What? This same principle applies to your dog as well.
Often times “dog training” relies heavily on obedience training and failing to look at the whole picture. By first looking at your pups entire life (i.e. nutrition, boundaries, health, etc.), we can identify and address the behavior BEFORE the traditional training begins. This is absolute magic when it comes to having the best relationship with your pup. A dog who is healthy and safe is able to focus on being it’s best self.
